Day 2 & Day 3 of A.T.

Day 2

We warmed up with a 400m run and stretching as usual. We did 5 rounds of 8 movements for 45 seconds. The movements were kettlebell swings, sit ups, line hops, step ups, ring rows, jump squats, push ups and a cone run. This work out was rough especially since we didn’t get a break until after the 3rd round. I also tripped when I stepped in a hole and got chased by a bee, which definitely helped me run faster on my cone run lol.

Day 3

This workout wasn’t so bad because it was a partner workout. Partner 1 worked on the movement while partner 2 did a cone run and when partner 2 returned then you switched. We had to do 80 kettlebell swings, 80 Kong slams, 80 lateral lunges, 80 goblet squats, 80 sit ups, and 80 clings. We never did lateral lunges or clings in boot camp so our coach had to show us how to do them and surprisingly we did well on them.

I fell in another hole during the workout and my ankle was hurting the next day when I moved it a certain way so I decided not to go to the Saturday workout. I could’ve rowed instead of running but I felt it was best to stay off of it so I wouldn’t injure my ankle more and end up missing more work outs.

Recipes Lately

I’ve  been slacking lately so I’m going to post the recipes I’ve tried since I started eating clean during the boot camp.

1st one up is a Broccoli, Chicken and Mushroom Casserole. I wasn’t a fan of the coconut milk in this dish but after the 1st day it apparently settled and it was delicious.

  
I was actually craving something sweet so I made some energy bites that had honey, peanut butter, chopped cashews, rolled oats, raisins and chocolate chips. 

 
Next recipe is Lemon Chicken with asparagus and mushrooms. This recipe was good and easy. 

 
I also tried a turkey sausage and cabbage dish that was good the 1st couple days but after that I had a hard time getting it down so I probably won’t make it again. Another bust was crockpot pineapple chicken…it didn’t soak up any of the pineapple flavor and it was dry.  I also made Rosemary Porkchops which were ok but I wasn’t crazy about the recipe enough to make it again.

Next recipe I made was Mushroom Soup. It was delicious but I really wanted to add cheese or make a grilled cheese to dip in it.  

 
I made a Honey Mustard Chicken and Veggie Salad. I used a rotisserie chicken but I didn’t use the purple cabbage and it was delicious. 

 
Next recipe was Banana Latte Oatmeal and it was ok but it could have used some vanilla flavoring. The bananas didn’t hold up well either. 

 
Next recipe was Shrimp Scampi with zoodles. This was really spicy and I’m officially obsessed with zoodles now. 

 
I also made some almond butter using almonds with sea salt but next time I’ll just buy it since the bag of almonds cost the same as the premade jars. 

Last but not least I made Zucchini Pie and this recipe was also bland. I added nature’s seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder and sriracha sauce to make it taste better. 

 

Saturday Workout and 1st Day of Athletic Training

Saturday Workout

We started with a 200m run and stretching.

The workout was a partner workout that consisted of:
1 mile run
100 ring row
200 push ups
300 air squats
1 mile run

I had to row instead of doing the last run.

A.T. Class

I was still extremely sore from all of the ring rows Saturday but I wasn’t going to miss my 1st day.

We did a 400m run and stretched.

We did 4 sets of 8 ring rows, 8 bent rows, 8 dips, 8 shoulder presses.

Then we did an 800m run, 50 sit ups, 50 kick backs, 50 Kong slams and another 400 m run.

Then we did 25 sit ups, 25 kick backs, 25 Kong slams, and a 400 m run.

I was finishing up my 25 kick backs and Kong slams but I’m happy I was at least on the last round.

Final Day Of Boot Camp

This workout was by far one of the worst because today we used…kettlebells!

We warmed up as usual.

The 1st set consisted of 3 cone runs and 15 kettlebell swings
The 2nd set was 10 deadlifts w kettlebells and 10 sit ups
The 3rd set was 10 thrusters w/ kettlebells and 5 burpees

My partner and I started on the 2nd set and my legs were shaking afterwards. After that my legs were on fire for every movement and my left knee was hurting during the run. I’m sure I’m going to be extremely sore tomorrow lol. This workout made me wonder what I got myself into since the A.T. class uses kettlebells a lot but I’m going to stick with it.

I measured myself after Tuesday’s workout and so far I’ve lost 1 inch in my waist, 2 inches in my stomach, 1 inch in my hips, and an inch in my legs.

Boot Camp Day 9, 10, 11 and Saturday Workout

Day 9

We did cone runs, squats, push ups, and burpees

Day 10

This was a rough one!

We did a 400 m run, 21 squats and 12 push ups for 10 min. Then we did line hops and sit ups. we did 50 of each then 40,30,20 and 10 for 10 minutes.

Saturday Workout

We did 3 rounds of a 400 m run, 40 squats, 30 sit ups, 20 push ups and 10 ring rows.

I did one 400m run after that I had to row 500m because my legs were shaking too much during the squats. It is so hard to do squats after running!

Then they made us do 8 sets of planks ugh!

Day 11

We did the re-test today and I definitely improved more than I thought!

The 1st day I did 15 1/2 runs and today I did 20 1/2

1st day squats: 70       Today: 98

1st day sit ups: 31        Today: 54

1st day push ups: 24      Today: 31

This made my day especially since I was having a really bad one  up until my work out.

Labor Day Weekend

It’s been a very productive weekend. I finished the tv series Rules of Engagement and started watching season 4 of Once Upon A time. I got some cleaning and errands done as well as a bunch of reading.

I’ve been reading my Kindle First books that I get free each month and I finished “The Mermaid’s Sister” by Carrie Anne Noble. It’s about this girl Clara and her sister that is turning into a mermaid so she as well as a friend try to bring her back to the ocean while facing several obstacles. I have been zooming through my kindle books and they have all been so good except one…I’ll get to that one.

I think the last book I mentioned in one of my previous post was “The Dead Key” by D.M. Pulley and I highly recommend that everyone read it! It switches from past to current time between the two main characters that are trying to solve the mystery going on at a bank.

After the mermaid book I read “It Had To Be Him” by Tamra Baumann. It’s a romance that takes place in a small town that the main character runs back because she thinks her ex is trying to take their child away from her. This book had me laughing one minute to hating other characters to tearing up then back to laughing again.

Next I read “Boundary Crossed” by Melissa Olson. It is about this girl Lex who saves her infant niece from being kidnapped by vampires only to later find out that she is a witch. It isn’t your typical werewolf, vampire, and witch story. I found the novella “Malediction” that goes in between this book and the 2nd book…it actually links to another series (Scarlett Bernard series) that I definitely plan on reading as well. It was only 64 pages so I flew through that one. The 2nd book “Boundary Lines” isn’t going to be released until Oct. and I can’t wait to read it as well.

I started reading “Queen of The Trailer Park” by Alice Quinn and I just couldn’t get into it. It’s about this girl who lives in a trailer park in France with her 3 kids and her cat. Her friend  and infant son disappears so she acquires the friend’s other kid and has this thing going on with the cop investigating her friend’s disappearance until she finds he has something to do with it. I only got 85 pages in until I gave up because it just wasn’t interesting to me.

Then I started on “A Dark Lure” by Loreth Anne White. I’m not close to being done but I think I will be shortly because it seems really good. It’s about this girl who is tortured by a serial killer and gets away so she changes her name then moves away. The serial killer is back and he wants to finish the job. I’ll let y’all know how it goes.

I met up with my friend in my boot camp class this morning to work on our homework assignment. We warmed up like we usually do by stretching and running 200 m. We then ran 30 m, did 10 sit ups and 15 air squats. After finishing the homework we decided that we should do some push ups, planks, lunges and a final 200 m run. After I got home I decided to take Phoebe on a short walk to loosen up after the workout….I’m a masochist I know.

Boot Camp Day 7 & 8

Day 7

We did burpees, v-ups, suicides, and planks.

After last Saturdays workout I emailed my coach and told her that I would like to join her Athletic Training Class after the Boot Camp Class is over with. It’s like the Boot Camp Class except we will use kettlebells and free weights. She said she only had 4-6 openings so I knew I needed to decide quickly.

Day 8

We warmed up with a 400 meter run and stretches.

We had 3 workouts that each lasted 7 min. They also started and ended with a 200 m run. We had to do burpees, reverse lunges, jump squats, walk me downs, flutter kicks, v-ups, push ups, and line hops.

Let me tell you this workout was rough!!! I’m not sure if it was because I was exhausted or because it was so hot or both.

So far I’ve lost 12 lbs total and 4 since I started the boot camp!
