Saturday Workout

The Saturday workout kicked my butt literally….I fell down during the warm up doing butt kicks. The tip of my shoe hit the turf coming down and next thing I know I’m falling and a guy is asking me if I’m ok. I told him yeah but I started to say I’m fine but my pride isn’t ha.

It was another partner workout so I teamed up with the girl from my boot camp class that I partnered with last weekend. We had to do a 2400 m run….she has bad knees so she rowed her 1200 and I ran mine. We also had to do 100 kettle bell swings, 100 squats, 100 hand release push ups, 100 kong throws 100 sit ups and you guessed it another 2400 m run. Our coach for boot camp was teaching the class and she told us we could just row for 1200 m instead of the 2400 m run.

It was pretty rough trying to walk after that and my hamstring was pretty tight afterwards but that was nothing compared to how sore I am today. On top of being super sore I cheated on my paleo diet unintentionally. I ordered a sushi roll that was supposed to be wrapped in soy paper and a ginger salad but when I got home I found that the sushi was wrapped all in rice!! I feel really bad especially since I didn’t lose too much weight after yesterday’s brutal workout but I wasn’t going to waste it just because they didn’t make it like their description said.

The toughest part other than the workout is not having sushi, cheeseburgers, mayo and bread! I can live without all the other unhealthy things! I know paleo should be easy since it’s meat, fruit and vegetables but I’ve had the worst time finding recipes that I actually like. I made a cabbage dish that had turkey sausage and it was ok the first couple times then I had to struggle to get it down the next time. I’ve made 2 batches of ranch dressing: one w/ plain greek yogurt and the other w/ plain yogurt and I hated both! I also hated the chicken salad I made with plain yogurt. It hasn’t been all bad though…the broccoli slaw salad w/ asian dressing recipe I found was good, eating chicken salad on cucumber slices instead of bread wasn’t bad, eating more grilled fish definitely hasn’t been bad, tuna fish salad on apple slices sounds weird but it was actually pretty good, and I love vanilla almond milk!!! I don’t know maybe if I actually stuck with a plain meat entree and a side of vegetable I would actually be losing more weight but I can’t eat boring food.

Bootcamp Day 5 & 6

Day 5

We warmed up with a 200 meter run and some stretches.

The workout was a partner workout and consisted of a 800 m run, 300 push-ups, 200 squats, and 100 sit-ups.

Day 6

We did three 5 minute rounds

  1. 8 push ups then 12 jump squats
  2. 5 burpees and 10 sit ups
  3. 2-3 cone runs and 10 reverse lunges

This Pug Life recently posted 8 photos that make her happy and challenged others to do so as well. Let me just say that it was extremely hard to only pick 8 photos. I had other photos in mind but I decided to pick photos from my phone because there are several I will never delete so they are obviously special. As a photographer all my pictures make me happy because when I look at them the memory of that day or the story behind it brings me back.

My Mom’s Birthday Weekend

I tried to surprise my mom by coming in early but I ended up slipping up and she figured it out. We went out to dinner and it was really good even though I still had to follow my diet. My mom and I both ordered grilled red fish while my brother and my dad had steaks.

I gave my potato and my roll to my parents because I didn’t want to be tempted.

The next day I played fetch with the pups….well Phoebe fetched and Tank just chased after her lol.

I also managed to visit my friend Niki while I was in town since she moved almost 2 hours from where my parents live.

My mom and I managed to eat at our favorite Chinese place before I left. I got 2 fortunes and neither one was good!

Overall it was a great weekend! I got to see my family and catch up with my friend, which I really missed. Phoebe got to play with some puggles and her cousin. I managed to eat some great food and not kill my diet 🙂

Boot Camp Day 4/Saturday Workout

The workout ended up getting cut short due to lightning.

We started out with 8 rounds of push ups and planks, which was brutal. I was still so sore from Tuesday’s workout so it was really hard to hold the planks. We had just started on the jump squats when the lightning started.

We would’ve done burpees next. The next round would’ve consisted of sit ups, russian twists and flutter kicks.

I guess it worked out since my friends ended up grilling so I was able to hang out with them. They cooked chicken, steaks, rice and I brought some boudin. I can’t have rice so I was only able to eat the chicken and steaks.

I was kinda bummed that we didn’t get to finish the work out so when I heard they were having a Saturday workout I decided to go. It was pretty difficult but I felt so good afterwards. My friend and his wife went as well as 2 girls from my boot camp class. I paired up with Amanda from my boot camp class.

We did a 400 meter run, 500 meter row and some stretches for the warm up. We had to do a set of squats, hand relea se push ups then a 200 meter run or 1 minute on the bike. Then we would move on to a lower number of the same movements followed by a 200 meter run. After the sets were done we had to complete a 1500 meter row with the help of our partner of course. We didn’t complete the workout before time was called but I was on 1,178 meters so we were close so I was still proud.

My friends and I met up at Smoothie King for a post workout smoothie. I couldn’t have my usual since it had fruit juice in it so I went with a smoothie named after the boot camp gym.

I played some fetch with Phoebe until she was tired and I felt so bad because our neighbor’s dog wanted to play so bad!

Boot Camp Day 3

Standard

This was by far the hardest workout so far and it didn’t help that I was late getting there because the location was moved due to possible rain.

The warm up was jumping jacks, high knees, squats, and reverse lunges!

The work out was 3 reps of: 200 meter run, 40 lunges, 30 v-ups, and 20 min push ups.

I thought that would be it but I was wrong! We did some planks after that and they were brutal.

I have started researching clean eating and found that it isn’t as strict as I thought. The food plan we are on now is more paleo with a few clean eating ingredients so I ‘m definitely looking forward to doing more clean eating once the boot camp is through. I definitely think I will be able to stick with it and I plan to eat clean 90% of the time because you have to cheat occasionally. I know the first things I will eat once the boot camp is over is definitely a baked salmon sushi roll and a cheeseburger. I don’t really miss fast food, bread or any of the other foods that I can’t eat on a paleo diet, which is surprising.

Boot Camp Day 2

Well I was having the worst day ever ! I didn’t know you were supposed to eat when taking a multi-vitamin and fish oil so I got really sick then work was absolutely awful. I went to pay my water bill and they had already closed down then I spilled water everywhere trying to fill up my water bottle. When I slammed the fridge door the racks in the door came out of place so when I opened the door a jar of jalapeño and orange marmalade broke on my floor. I was ready to scream and eat a cheeseburger! I’m an emotional eater can’t you tell.

  
I went to my boot camp class and I felt so much better! I ended up not eating the cheeseburger either ha. A girl that I graduated high school with was there so it was nice to see a familiar face.

We did a tabata workout that consisted of push ups, squats, suicide run, and burpees (sit ups). Then we did bicycle crunches, sit ups, planks and v-ups.

I’m definitely planning on doing the next level class after this boot camp is over with because I believe I’m addicted now ha.
