I signed up for a boot camp class! I’m excited and scared at the same time. It’s definitely something that is out of my comfort zone but I’m determined to do it. Hopefully it will go well and who knows I may sign up for another one of their classes or even join the gym. I’m not one of those people that can go to the gym to lift weights or run on the treadmill for hours…30 min and I’m done! So I think that since I won’t have time to get bored that this style of workout will work for me. Wish me luck and I’ll let y’all know how it goes 🙂
Last one for today I promise!!! Work has been stressful lately and I have started running again so that helps. I’m currently on week 3 of C25k and hope to finally be able to run a 5k by the end of the year. One of the local animal shelters is having a 5k next month or you have the option to walk 2 mi….pets are welcome of course so I’m debating if I want to try to do the 5k, walk the 2 mi by myself or walk the 2 mi with Phoebe. Phoebe and I have been walking more but I’m not sure if she will walk the 2 mi but she may since other dogs will be present I don’t know.
My dad and I spent an entire morning trying to fix the spot in my yard where my sewage line was replaced. We re-distributed the dirt, put some top soil down then some sand and finally some sod pieces he made from the edge of my yard. It doesn’t look so good now, which I guess is due to the heat but here is a picture of it once we got done
I have recently become obsessed with succulent plants and cacti and I really want to get some for my office and windowsills at home. I think it’s ironic because my great grandmother, who I’m named after had every cacti known to man on her patio when I was growing up and those are the only plants that I remember her ever having.
For those of you saying shut up already and get to the pug pictures that you have been hoarding since last month here you go!
My parents brought me an old desk which won’t fit where I planned to put it without some serious maneuvering so for right now it’s in my living room…..it’s kind of growing on me so it may end up staying here idk. I’m happy that I have a designated working area so hopefully I will be able to blog more since it will easier with everything in one place.
Phoebe isn’t really a fan of me sitting at the desk though because she wants to sit in my lap.
When I have refused to let her sit in my lap…I’m awful I know….she has decided to sleep underneath the desk so I may end up getting her a doggy bed to put under there.
Phoebe also got a bath yesterday since I bought her some furminator deshedding shampoo. I had already been using the furminator conditioner with her other shampoo but I didn’t know you were supposed to leave it on for 5 minutes so I tried that yesterday ha. She was tired of sitting there by the time we got to the conditioning part….
I went to a surprise birthday party for my co-worker’s cousin and it was fun.
Also I’m almost done reading the last book in the Game of Thrones series. I’m going to be sad since the show isn’t running right now and I’ll probably have to wait another 10 years before George R. Martin cranks out another book for the series!
I made Hippie Juice for the 4th of July and it was delicious! I didn’t use the Simply Pink Lemonade like the recipe called for instead I used Country Time Strawberry Lemonade powder and I didn’t use strawberries since my went bad before I could use them.
Ambrosia Salad….Please excuse the bad picture and my messy handwriting. Also I never added the coconut flakes because I forgot. The bananas go bad really fast and if I ever make it again I will probably omit the marshmallows instead of the coconut flakes.
I have been drinking this stuff non-stop since I found the recipe!!! I cheated and bought the bottled Starbucks lightly sweetened iced coffee to make it.
I loved eating Lobster Rolls when I lived in Maine and I have been craving one but after 3 trips to 3 different grocery stores there was no lobster to be found 😦 I made the recipe with crab instead and it was delicious.
Baked Sweet & Sour Chicken
I could eat Chinese food every day and not get tired of it so I decided to try this recipe. It was good but I have this huge fear of raw chicken so I think I overcooked it in the pan before baking it so it was kind of chewy….my fault not the recipe creator’s so I definitely encourage everyone to try this recipe. My mom suggested I try heating up the leftovers in the oven instead of the microwave since it was baked there in the first place but I never did, which may have helped with the chewiness I don’t know. I bought some packaged Udon noodles to go as a side then put some bottled teriyaki sauce and soy sauce on them….it was ok but it was packaged so I didn’t have high hopes for it anyways. Overall I would definitely make this recipe again.
This isn’t a recipe I know but I wanted to share this anyways…Greek Gods Greek Yogurt has a new flavor….Honey Salted Caramel!!
It is good! This is the only brand of yogurt I eat now after trying their honey flavored greek yogurt so naturally I had to try this one plus I’m a fan of anything salted caramel flavored, which reminds me the new salted caramel flavored Kahlua is good too!
Yesterday was my one year blogging anniversary wow!!! Thank you to everyone who follows my blog, comments on the posts and follows the Facebook page.
I started this blog because I enjoyed following other pug blogs so much and couldn’t wait for another post that I got this crazy notion that maybe people would enjoy reading about Phoebe and our lives too. I went from asking my close friends to follow me to having 42 followers that I didn’t have to beg ha and over 500 followers on the Facebook page….This blog has turned into more than I ever expected.I have actually went out to do something to post about because I hadn’t posted in awhile so thanks for making me to not be so lazy ha. No in all seriousness…updating everyone on the books I’m reading, my photography, my life, the recipes I have tried ( bc I really hated cooking and now I kind of enjoy it)….I feel like it has pushed me to be a better me and I thank y’all for that. Ok all the mushiness aside I hope to continue blogging for more years to come and hope y’all stay along for the ride.
In honor of my one year of blogging I decided to revisit the resolutions I made in January to see how I’m doing.
1) Lose weight & start running again- well I am working on getting down from my new all time highest weight but I have recently started running again…so 50/50 on that one I guess
2) Take more pictures & get them organized- I can actually say I have feel like I have done some improvement on this one.
3) Pay off some debt- I have almost paid off one of my student loans and have 3 more debts not including my mortgage to pay off so I’m getting there. I have a plan…thank you Dave Ramsey ha.
4) Eat healthier & cook more- I’ve tried lots of new recipes….meh on eating healthier ha….so another 50/50
5) Travel more-This will definitely be a permanent resolution. This year I have been to Starkville,MS, Spanish Fort, AL, Jacksonville,FL and new parts of New Orleans so I consider that a win.
6) Tackle home improvements- eh not so much unless you count the stuff I have purchased to make it feel more like home.
7) Blog more- Check! 2014 I blogged 33 times and this year 42 times.
8) Be happier- I’m definitely working hard on this one and hopefully some big changes are in store for me.
