Mr. Franklin has been more than happy to pose for pictures these past few days, which is kind of unusual.
My best friend sent this story to me
and I figured I would share it.
What is is Phoebe up to? What she does best….
In a couple days we will find out if our city will get a dog park! I can’t wait! I have to admit I get jealous when I read other pug blogs and they get to go to these awesome dog parks. The animal shelter already has the land to build one but they needed funding so they entered a contest that would give the nominated city with the most votes grant money for a dog park. They’ve really been stepping it up lately, which makes me proud to be part of a community that cares so much for animals. The other animal shelter in town took part in Rachael Ray’s Save 100 Challenge and has been transporting animals to northern animal shelters so they will have a better chance at being adopted. They worked out an agreement with barkbox where you use a promo code to receive a discounted subscription then barkbox gives them $15 for ever subscription. Also they’ve been selling t-shirts and license plates.
I tried a new recipe called Salt and Pepper Porkchops . You are supposed to use pork loins but I used pork steaks. Also you are supposed to cook them in vegetable oil, which I didn’t because I put them in my slow cooker. As a result it was more like salt and pepper shredded pork so I just used it to make a sandwich but it was still delicious. The marinade was simple: soy sauce, cornstarch, pepper, sugar and salt.
National Geographic posted this article and I thought I would share it because I thought it was interesting.
Phoebe is pretty jealous, which is why I debate on whether or not I should get a second pug eventually. I can’t afford another one right now and I know it would make a few things a little more difficult (traveling, walks in the neighborhood, etc) but I still think it would be nice to have my little pug pack as I like to refer to it one day. Phoebe gets along well with other dogs so she would enjoy having a playmate but I think that when she realized that the other dog was staying and she would have to share the bed then she wouldn’t be happy about it. I see in other blogs that have multiple pugs that they adjust eventually but I just wouldn’t want to do anything to make Phoebe unhappy. My friend posted on FB that his dad is looking for a home for a pug today ironically, which made me re-visit the topic.
I also saw an article about a company that is building houses with amenities for dogs.
I’m very sad the weekend is almost over but we did have a quiet Sunday, which is always good.
Phoebe played fetch while I enjoyed my morning coffee on the patio.
When Phoebe doesn’t sunbathe outside she likes to sunbathe on her mat.
As soon as I wash the blankets that go on the couch Phoebe has to lay on them so they smell normal again I guess.
I also tried a new drink…pinnacle whipped cream vodka and cran-grape juice. It tastes like a purple skittle.
Phoebe and I were outside while I was waiting for my rice and green beans to finish cooking.
When all of a sudden an intruder appears on the patio and before I can get a picture of him Phoebe attacks!!! She is like Mommy I’ll save you! I rush to grab Phoebe so this poor baby bird can attempt to escape but he can’t fly really well so he resorts to hiding in the jungle.
Luckily the mamma found the baby bird
By this time dinner is finally ready! Round steak with gravy over rice and green beans with garlic. I really ❤ garlic so i would make a really bad date ha. I always put garlic and sometimes soy sauce in my green beans but my co-worker swears that adding onions and butter to green beans are the best.
Phoebe begs even though she knows I never give her people food.
Her begging doesn’t reap any rewards so she hopes to catch some food as I’m putting the food away
We go back outside after dinner and Phoebe takes the opportunity to search for the intruder with no such luck.
Until the baby bird emerges from the other side of the yard.
Now we are just relaxing
Phoebe started out her day by getting her tennis ball stuck underneath the dresser and whining persistently until I got it for her. She does this repeatedly I guess to see how many times I will fetch it for her ha.
This is the look I get when I tell her she has plenty of other toys to play with so she should forget about her ball for now.
She did some sunbathing when I let her out for lunch.
Then she hovered while I cooked dinner just in case I dropped some food.
Dinner was salmon tacos with a jalapeño cream sauce
Then it was time for one of Phoebe’s favorite pastimes besides eating of course and that is sleeping.
It’s a hard life for this pug.
